MLB Advanced Media (MLBAM) is a limited partnership of the club owners of Major League Baseball based in New York City and is the Internet and interactive branch of the league.
An angry former employee said this on Indeed "Modern day sweatshop. Absolutely awful place to work, where dreams go to get crushed. Would not recommend my worst enemy to ever work at this misery hole called MLBAM. Overworked, underpaid, not respected, a lot of egos, very little chance of advancement, almost zero perks".
Current Employee - Anonymous Employee says"I have been working at Major League Baseball (MLB) full-time for more than 10 years Cons: Where to begin? I feel like I am in high school most of the time. But the school board doesn't care about the problems within because the grades for the school are decent. The benefits are good enough that you really need to take a hard look at that cost before moving on. But you will WANT to move on. They do not pay a competitive salary compared to others in the industry.You cannot have people work a higher level position than they were hired for for 6 months, a year, two years, without compensation. I've seen that for part timers and full timers. You are valued as long as you work long ungodly hours. If you have to cut back for any reason, you are eventually shoved to the side for others who are willing to put in the crazy and thankless amount of hours. The atmosphere can be extremely toxic. Honestly, I have better relationships with people outside my department. You see the reviews many times here mention 'cliquey' and 'brown nose'. VERY TRUE. I've seen managers and directors that will curse out employees and be rewarded later on. One time I saw a manager, when confronted with an employee who was not doing the job well and in an appropriate way (which I agreed with), went on to yell at and berate the employee for over half an hour while they were supposed to be working (obviously a poor way to handle). It was late and there wasn't a full house, but there were quite a few people within earshot. Extremely uncomfortable situation. I've heard senior directors call people mindless, and other things that are extremely unprofessional. Not an appropriate way to inspire and lead. Communication is horrendous. If someone doesn't like you or doesn't want to deal with a difficult situation, I've seen it so many times where you are avoided or ignored... Or terminated. I recently heard one employee complaining that their desk moved 3 times in the past 6 months and they weren't even informed until the day of, and not even by their manager. Many part time employees feel they are treated extremely poorly. They are not wrong, though many times that comes from farther above than they know. Part timers are restricted to 30 hours a week so they are not eligible for benefits. But that's only some departments for some reason. And other departments get around that by using 'flat rate' pay. You may work an 8-hour shift, but because it is flat rate, it doesn't count towards your hourly totals accrued for the year. So even if you averaged over 40 hours a week, since it was flat rate you are not eligible for benefits. Nor are you eligible for overtime pay. I am really surprised someone hasn't brought a lawsuit against them for this."

Are we a tech company that delivers all things baseball via the latest technologies or are we a government agency? Because the way we make plan and execute feels like bureaucrats are the ones making decisions. The hiring process is a joke and the organization is extremely dysfunctional. Inter department communication is inexcusably bad. The talent is there, people want to work for baseball, but upper management has done a very poor job organizing and utilizing their talent pool. Also, why do we pay 50 cents a soda?"

Only complaint after complaint. You'll go in with a happy spirit and leave miserable by the end of the day. 2. Processes are nonexistent. 3. Workload is very heavy. 4. Work and Personal Life are tough to manage together. 5. No room for growth unless someone is let go or quits."
says"I worked at Major League Baseball (MLB) Cons: Investment in hardware seems to be the extent of their expenses. They have a notoriously large part time staff that sees incremental pay raises at best, and a decent portion of those employees are technically freelancers, paid on a game-basis, rather than hourly. The seasonal nature of the actual baseball employees is understandable given the duration of a baseball season, but many other year-round technical staff is kept in part time status, with minimal overlap, creating long nights and weekends for several departments. Advancement seems to seldom occur, as management is happy to allow teams to become revolving doors. The only constant is management itself. Lastly, the company's location above Chelsea Market makes it a nightmare to get to, and unfortunately provides few affordable food options for the part time wage slave."

Unsurprisingly, morale is an issue. Employees don't seem to be particularly valued as a resource by management, as there is a "next man up" mentality. There seems to be a real divide between management and rank-and-file employees. (Yes, this tends to exist to some degree in all companies, but this is the worst I've seen.)"
Current Employee - Anonymous Employee says"I have been working at Major League Baseball (MLB) full-time for less than a year Cons: For a San Francisco location, the company is too concerned with offering any perks that do not exist at the New York office. As a result, New York actually get more benefits (given that the HQ there has more people and therefore more special events). Meanwhile, the San Francisco office lacks the perks that are now pretty common. We even pay for sodas. There is no compensation for commute costs (you can pay pretax but that's hardly a perk). Compared to other employers in this area, the culture, perks, and salary for MLBAM is simply lacking for a company with this much revenue."
Broadcast Engineer (Former Employee) says"Due to lack of leadership and lack of proper training for new employees, I rate them low. I was hire on Dec 23 2015 did not receive proper training until June 2015 and it was for 2 weeks. My evaluation then was a week later with poor outcome."
